新田村在城北镇东北部，设13个村民小组，属梅州市梅江区城北镇下辖的行政村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名来由是此地旧时为荒地，后来开垦成农田，故称新田。[1]

1949年设上村乡，隶属城北区；1956年撤区并乡，归城西乡。1958年改设上村大队，属卫星人民公社（后称梅城人民公社），1960年改属新设的城北人民公社。「文化大革命」初期，上村大队分为上村与九福寨两村，1966年九福寨村改名新田村。1983年称新田乡，归城北区管辖；1987年改为村民委员会，隶属城北乡；1989年称新田管理区；1998年定名为新田村民委员会，隶属城北镇。[1]

经济[edit]

村情资料载，全村有462户、1808人，总面积2.00平方公里，耕地1060亩，主要种水稻；所记上一年农村经济总收入1802万元（年份未注明）。村里改造村址、扩大门店收入以壮大集体经济。[1]

2019年9月，该村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
