历史沿革[edit]
村名来自一处称作「五里」的地段：据村情资料所述，从前有高官到梅州，特意在此亭迎接，村子由此得名五里亭。[1]
解放前，上村、中村和五里亭三处合称古田。1949年设五里亭乡，隶属城北区；1956年撤区并乡，归城西乡。1958年改设五里亭大队，属卫星人民公社（后称梅城人民公社）；1960年城北人民公社从梅城人民公社分设，该村随之改属。1983年恢复乡的建制，归城北区管辖；1987年改为村民委员会，隶属城北乡；1989年称五里亭管理区；1998年定名为五里亭村村民委员会，隶属城北镇。[1]
经济[edit]
村情资料载，全村有545户、1600人，总面积1.28平方公里，耕地240亩，种水稻和蔬菜；所记上一年农村经济总收入1896万元（年份未注明）。村里近年引导农民转向其他行业，并引进本村能人办企业，安排富余劳动力就业。[1]
2019年9月，该村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
