张姓先祖从各处迁来定居，取名新屋，含扎根落地、重新起步之意。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代归登名都，民国时期属第九区沙冈乡，新中国成立后属八区。1963年属水口公社，称新屋大队；1974年曾称向前大队。1984年改称新屋乡人民政府，1986年属水口镇，称新屋管理区；1993年随沙冈区另置，2005年起归水口镇管辖，村级组织自1999年起称新屋村民委员会。[1]
荣誉[edit]
新屋村在2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单，2021年12月又获「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
