地名由来[edit]
村名的由来是：村在旧东安镇的东部，解放后新设辖区，故名东新。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年东新乡成立。1958年称生产大队，也叫松塘大队。1984年改回乡，两年后又称村委会，1989年称管理区。1998年10月9日，恩平市人民政府批准恢复设立东新村民委员会；2006年，东新随着东安街道办事处的撤销，划入东成镇。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
全村478户、1582人，总面积1330亩，耕地213亩。[1]村民以耕作为主，种水稻、花生、玉米、红薯和蔬菜，部分人到附近工业区务工；村里建了一栋两层、两千多平方米的扶贫楼，以租金增加集体收入。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2018年东新村列入「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2022年1月被确定为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位；2023年5月，村内方田村获「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
