赤坑社区是广宁县赤坑镇政府驻地所在的社区，位于全镇中心，辖区面积15.2平方公里，辖20个村民小组，总人口3350多人。[1]2019年9月，社区列入广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
早在清道光年间，这里就有了集市，归永义铺管辖。民国时期先后属二十五区和八区，曾与宾岗分治，后归雍穆乡、汶水乡；1947年的民主政权称之为共和乡。[2]新中国成立初期属三区滨岗乡，1958年起为赤坑大队；1983年设赤坑乡，原合成一并划入，1987年两地分开，赤坑改称村委会，经管理区阶段后于2004年改设社区居民委员会，沿用至今。[2]
地名由来[edit]
一说古时此地曾为战场，河水被血染红，因此得名“赤坑”；另一说赤坑圩处在山高林密之地，水源出自山泉，水温较低，广宁话称“冷”为“赤”，赤坑即“冷水坑”。[1]
经济与物产[edit]
社区山地多，林木以松、杉、竹为主，土特产有蜂蜜、笋干、砂仁和白花茶油。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
交赞村东北侧的长乐居炮楼建于民国初年，朝向东南，用砖木筑成，占地77平方米，楼高4层，墙体厚0.6米，正面宽约9.8米，进深约7.8米。[1]
