莲塘村在赤坭镇的东南部，面积约14.56平方千米，分19个村民小组，人口4235多（博雅地名网，年份未注明），是镇里人口较多的村，距镇区约9公里。[1]村附近水域中有一块形似莲叶的陆地，村后小山丘又像莲花，因此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

莲塘大队由莲塘与红星在1958年合成；1984年陂塘、小迳、官坑三处划入莲塘乡。1987年设立莲塘村委会，先隶属赤坭区公所，当年3月起归赤坭镇人民政府管辖。[1]

经济[edit]

集体收入靠山岭承包、鱼塘承包和房屋出租；山上种速生桉，水田种水稻、花生，鱼塘养殖四大家鱼。[1]

荣誉[edit]

  • “民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位（广东省2018年度名单，2019年9月公布）。[1]
  • 2022年度广东省卫生村（2023年5月授予）。[1]
