莲塘村属广州市增城区中新镇，是镇辖的行政村。博雅地名网所载村情记其面积4.5平方千米，耕地约6000亩，户籍人口2896人（650户），流动人口150人，下辖4个自然村、23个村民小组。^[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村前有一口莲塘，村名由此而来。^[1]

莲塘的村民在明朝时定居建村。1949年这里属新三区的下福乡，1956年办起莲塘合作社，1958年公社化后成为中新公社莲塘大队；1983年改称乡，1987年设莲塘村民委员会，属中新镇。^[1]

村里以“莲塘水晶沙蔼”和七彩红薯出名，村情称它们远销香港；村内建有学校、农家书屋、敬老院和老人活动中心。^[1]

莲塘村以葡萄入选广东省农业农村厅2020年8月公布的首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单。莲塘村又进入2022年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位之列，时间是2022年8月。^[1]
