莲塘村是广东省梅州市梅县区城东镇下辖的行政村，位于镇府东北5公里，设7个村民小组，在册233户、995人。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清朝末年隶白渡堡（旧名上半图）莲塘甲；民国时先在梅屏外乡，1945年内外两乡合并，随之划入梅屏乡。此后1958年入悦来公社，1963年转入城东公社，1983年改隶城东区，1987年易名管理区，至1999年成为村民委员会。[3]
地名由来[edit]
村名的由来是：这里原是连姓先民的居地，门前有一口大塘，后人在塘里种莲藕，遂称莲塘。[2]
经济[edit]
据村情介绍，莲塘村设7个村民小组，在册233户、995人，全村面积4.84平方千米，耕地910亩；主要种植水稻、水果等，特色经济收入552万元，上一年农村经济总收入1986万元。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
古氏洋楼是村中一座1919年落成的中西合璧建筑，出资兴建者为旅居缅甸的古姓兄弟，门朝东开，宽约27.65米、深约30.85米，占地大约1000平方米。该楼于2015年入选第八批广东省文物保护单位。[4]
