莲塘村位于车田镇，村内有大片池塘种植莲藕，村名由此而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1951年，此地归车田乡的叶塘小乡管辖，其中有莲塘村一处。1958年分属车田公社的叶塘大队与莲塘大队。1983年划入叶塘乡，仍以莲塘村为名；1986年成为叶塘村之下的莲塘自然村；1989年自叶塘析出，设为管理区，1999年村委会重设。[1]
荣誉[edit]
莲塘村的2022年广东省卫生村称号，由广东省爱卫会于2023年5月认定。[1] 2019年9月，该村列为2018年度广东省民主法治示范村创建单位。[1]
