莲塘村位于大埔县大麻镇境内，属河东片，在梅州市、广东省的行政区划中是大麻镇所辖的一个村。旧称连塘：境内没有溪流，常年偏旱，村民挖塘蓄雨水，塘与塘一口接一口，后来改写成莲塘。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清同治年间（1862年至1874年）属大埔县大麻社大麻村。1998年改设村民委员会，此前1988年改称管理区，1986年冬设村委会，1983年12月为莲塘乡，1978年3月单独设生产大队，1958年人民公社化时并入大麻公社的附麻生产大队，1957年归大麻乡的附麻小乡，1949年属附麻乡，民国三十二年（1943年）前后属大麻区麻南乡。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
据村情页（未注明年份），全村分5个村民小组，在册186户、753人，耕地271亩，主要经济作物为柚子、蔬菜，上一年农村经济总收入673万元。[1]
荣誉[edit]
- 2019年9月，莲塘村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
