大塘村在河口镇南溪河边，坐落在狮子嶂脚下，辖嶂下、岭头和大塘3个自然村，人口1500多人。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1963年，大塘从营下管理区划出，另立大队。1984年3月起，大队体制取消，改由乡政府管理；此后村一级的称呼依次是村委会（1986年）、管理区办事处（1990年）、村民委员会（1999年）。[2]

概况[edit]

村里耕地639亩、山地8050亩，种植水稻、蔬菜和水果，收入多来自外出务工。中山市三角镇的帮扶工作组为村里的学校教学楼和围墙配套捐资30万元。[1] 2020年12月，广东省爱卫会授予大塘村「2020年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]

狮子嶂[edit]

狮子嶂主峰海拔651米，是陆河与陆丰两地的界山，北侧山脚即为大塘村嶂下自然村。山体由花岗岩与砂页岩构成，因主峰像狮头而得名，列入「陆河八景」。[3] 据百度百科，山上还存有石阶古道和民国时期的护林碑刻。[3]
