历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网所载，大塘村始建于宋末，初名五子楼村，传到第六代林南塘时，在村前村后开凿两口大鱼塘，村名改为大塘。[1]
土地改革时（1952年）这里属治和乡。1958年公社化之初，大塘圩、新莲塘与本村合为一个大塘大队；后来依次改为管理区（1986年）、村委会（1997年）。2004年，大塘、邓塘洲、新莲塘、镇郊4个村委会并为一个，新的大塘村民委员会沿用至今。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2023年4月公布的2022年广东省乡村治理示范村创建名单中有大塘村；2026年3月，它又被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村」。[2]
