甘川村是东岸镇下辖的行政村。村里泉水川流不息，水味甘甜，村名取此意。^[1]

甘川原是岑山大队的一部分，后与上垌、银朱表分作三个大队，1963年又合为一队，叫甘川大队。乡、农村管理区、村民委员会的名称依次出现于1983年、1986年和1999年。^[1]

2019年10月入选「2019年广东省卫生村」名录；2019年9月被列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」。^[1]
