红光是革命老区，村人希望后代不忘这块红色根据地，便以红光为村名。[1]
经济与荣誉[edit]
全村分18个村民小组，在册553户，总面积5平方公里（该站未注明年份）。种荔枝、龙眼和柑橘。[1]
2020年8月，红光村入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，产品为红光橙；2021年9月入选第二批，产品为益智。[1]
