地名来历：清代旧称“大潘坊”，1951年建乡政府时沿用“大潘”之名。[1]

全村辖28个自然村，据博雅地名网所载，2008年前后有718户3034人，耕地815亩，山林18000亩，鱼塘30亩，党员58人。[1]
