扁冲村在沙湖镇南部，紧靠开阳高速的沙湖出口，下属10条自然村，有681户，村内人口2323人，村外的华侨和港澳台同胞则有一千多人。[1]

村委会材料称总面积5.09平方千米，耕地2500亩。[1]
经济[edit]
材料写到村里已形成蕉苗场、香蕉场、花卉场和鸭场等，开阳高速通车后，村子成为交通中转点。[1]扁冲在沙湖镇的「百千万工程」典型村名单之中。[2]
文化[edit]
2017年10月，扁冲村被广东省爱国卫生运动委员会授予「第一批广东省卫生村」称号；2023年5月，所辖平康村被评为2022年广东省卫生村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949至1957年称扁冲乡，1958年为扁冲大队，1986年起称扁冲村委会，1998年10月起正式定名扁冲村民委员会。[1]
