莲塘村是雄州街道下辖的行政村，坐落在南雄市区北郊，面积约2平方千米，因村边有长满莲花的大池塘而得名。[1]全村648户、3172人，分16个村民小组，以水稻为主要作物（博雅地名网所载，未注明年份）。[1]

村委会有村干部5人、计生专干1人，党员61人；村集体全年收入3.2万元，介绍中称想在医疗站空地上建一间老人活动中心。[1]2019年9月，莲塘村名列「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」；2026年3月，又被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
