铺背村是雄州街道下辖的行政村，在南雄城郊东面，名字的意思是“商铺背后的村子”。[1]据博雅地名网，旧时从广州运往江西的货物到浈江、凌江汇合处后改走凌江，在今市一中北面的江边上岸，设“凌江驿”，沿街商铺林立，铺后建起村庄，故名铺背。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

铺背一带在1950年设有农会，其后先后改为初级社（1954年）、高级社（1956年）和大队（1961年）。[1]1983年政社分开，成立铺背乡；1988年称管理区，1998年12月管理区撤销，改设村民委员会，一直沿用。[1]

经济与人口[edit]

村内总人口2258人，分8个村小组，耕地1814亩（博雅地名网所载，未注明年份），种植优质稻、地膜花生、黄烟，兼营鱼塘养殖和蔬菜。[1]村旁有两条国道穿过，介绍称村里打算借此招商引资。[1]2019年9月，铺背村名列「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

宋代窑址位于铺背村旁约100米处，1974年发现，出土了一批宋代瓷器。[2]
