民主社区是雄州街道下辖的居民社区，处在南雄的市中心，地名来自解放后人民当家作主的含义。[1]辖区由永康路至灯光球场、国道323线的北门街、维新路及河边的青云东西路等路段构成，其中包括仁寿路步行街的两个分区，以及雄州大道中、大成街等，共11个自然小区和街道。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
民主社区的前身是民主街。1949年至1956年为街人民政府，随后几年先后改为居委会和办事处；1968年下半年起由革命委员会管理，1971年北门街重新划归它。[1]1980年初恢复居民委员会，2003年改称现名。[1]
人口与位置[edit]
社区办公室在三影塔广场附近的城新路，户籍人口3567人，干部6人、党员50人（博雅地名网所载，未注明年份）。[1]该介绍认为，社区地处市中心、人口密集，适合发展第三产业与物业管理。[1]
