大塘村是大方镇下辖的行政村。建立行政村时，村口有一道高40多米的山咀，横在村前，雨季积水如塘；后人将山咀挖通，开田造地建房，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1952年它还是大方行政村的一部分。1958年属大方人民公社，称大塘生产大队。1983年改隶大方区，设大塘乡人民政府；1987年设村委会；1989年改为大塘管理区办事处；1999年才恢复村民居委会的名称。1993年起归大方镇政府管辖。[1]
