塘边村是广州市增城区新塘镇东面的行政村，总面积1.9平方公里，因建村于鱼塘边而得名，南宋时先民从福建、江西迁来，当时称瑶溪。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网记，南宋德祐年间（1275年前后），村民的先祖从福建、江西迁到此地建村，称瑶溪；后因村建在鱼塘边，改称塘边。[1]

1949年后属新二区雅瑶乡，1956年设塘边高级社，1958年为塘边大队，隶属仙村公社；1983年恢复为雅瑶乡的一部分，1987年起属仙村镇的雅瑶村委会，1989年改属沙埔镇。1990年，塘边村民委员会从雅瑶村委会分出，沿用至今；2004年沙埔镇并入新塘镇。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

村分6个生产合作社，常住人口约2360人，外来人口约800；村内有二十多家企业，建有5338平方米的塘边村公园。荔新公路、石新公路和广深铁路经过村域。[1]

塘边村在2022年进入淘宝村名单，2026年1月获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
