历史沿革[edit]
村名与地形有关：向南延伸的丘陵山岗，到这里就是尽头。[1]博雅地名网的沿革文字讲到先祖自福建（一说浙江）经韶关迁来，但接下来的建制变迁写的是石滩一带的三江公社，与新塘沙埔片区的位置不符，这里不予采用。[1]
地理与经济[edit]
村在沙埔片区的中心，广深铁路、荔新公路和石新公路穿村而过，全村土地面积1.3平方公里，由四个经济合作社组成。[1]
岗尾村是荔枝专业村：广东省农业农村厅在2022年10月把它认定为当年的省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村。[1]
