莲塘村是广州市从化区太平镇下辖的行政村，村委会设在镇域西北部。[1] 全村面积约2.2平方千米，下设11个经济社，村委会介绍的人口为2178人、农户507户（该介绍未注明年份）。村委会距从化城区约14公里，距太平镇区约6公里。[1]

博雅地名网上莲塘村页面的地名由来和历史沿革两栏，写的是格塘村的内容（驻地在格塘村、1958年设格塘大队），应是误录，这里不采用。[1]

村民栽种荔枝、龙眼和鲜花，水田里种水稻和花生，并发展「幸福莲塘」农家乐；村子紧邻「东方夏湾拿」房地产项目。[1]

从化区人民政府于2015年发布的历史建筑与传统风貌建筑推荐线索名单中，列有本村的炮楼、绍信祖公祠，共2处。名单所列只是普查线索，不等于已定级的文物。[2]
