村名与镇名一样，都出自清代的太平场墟。[2]

  • 2019年9月，太平村列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]
  • 2024年11月，太平村被认定为「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」。[1]
  • 2026年1月，太平村被认定为「2025年广州市高质量充分就业街镇社区（村）」。[1]

博雅地名网上，太平村页面的「文化旅游」栏列有「仇氏古建筑群」，但该条写明位于灵山县的太平镇，与本村无关，这里不采用。[1]

据村委会介绍，村集体靠出租厂房取得收入，村民栽种荔枝、龙眼，也有人外出务工。[1]

从化区人民政府于2015年发布的历史建筑与传统风貌建筑推荐线索名单中，列有本村的狗眠地汜杨祖祠，共1处。名单所列只是普查线索，不等于已定级的文物。[3]
