新田社区即新田居委会，是陆河县新田镇政府驻地新田圩的镇区所在，占地约0.8平方千米。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网说明，名称「新田」来自祖先迁来筑寨并垦出大片良田一事；居委会在1999年定名为新田社区居委会，一直用到现在。[2]

人口与生活[edit]

镇政府的村情页介绍，社区外出人员占总人口一半以上，大多在珠江三角洲经营小店或做建筑工，留守的主要是老人和妇女，居民收入以外出务工为主。[1] 博雅地名网则记社区总人口2800多人。[2] 近年社区开展生态文明村创建，自然村之间的水泥路基本接通。[1]
