新田镇是广东省汕尾市陆河县西南端的建制镇，邻接海丰、陆丰、惠东、紫金四个市县的八个乡镇，镇政府设在新田圩，下辖1个社区和13个行政村。[1][5] 镇域是海陆丰早期农民运动和红色政权的重要所在地，激石溪一带是红二师的驻地，农民运动领导人杨其珊也出自此地。[2][7]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载地名由来，明隆庆五年（1571年），先民自福建迁来，在此开垦出大片新田，镇名由此而来。[5] 1949年以前，这一带属陆丰县第十三区和新安乡；新中国成立后划归大安区，1952年冬改属河口区，1957年撤区并乡，设新田乡。[5]

其后行政隶属多次变动：1958年冬并入河口公社，1961年从河口公社析出西部大队另设新田公社，1964年重新并回，1966年4月再度单设公社。[5] 1983年1月改为新田区，1986年3月区改为镇，沿用至今。[5]

地理环境[edit]

镇域位于陆河县西南角，距县城16公里，距汕尾市中心区48公里，到广州约230公里、深圳约170公里。[4] 地势北高南低，属丘陵，新田河自镇内穿过；政府网站载全镇面积182平方千米，此数把国营吉溪林场计算在内，耕地为1240公顷，山地约1.1万公顷，常年气温约22℃，年均降雨量约2200毫米。[1] 博雅地名网另给出辖区面积约174.52平方千米，两处口径不同。[5]

新田河的主要源头在激石溪村一带，当地山溪落差大，建有数座小型水电站；螺河与新田河在联安村一带汇合。[3] 省道S335线穿过镇境，政府网站称境内长约15公里，到深汕高速入口约41公里，潮惠高速公路新田段也在境内设有出口和服务区。[1][3]

政府网站介绍，全镇人口约4.2万。[1] 依据2020年第七次全国人口普查，博雅地名网记载新田镇人口为2.64万，在陆河县各镇中居第4位，面积则居第1位。[5] 两处数字相差较大，前者的统计时间网页上没有注明。

经济[edit]

新田是以农业为主的山区镇，种有水稻、甘薯、糖蔗、花生和多种亚热带水果，也出产马铃薯、生姜和蔬菜。[1] 各村的特色产业各不相同：参城村以蜜柚、横陇村以百香果、联新村以火龙果、北山村以嘉宝果入选广东省首批或第二批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，新村村则以肉牛入选。[5]

镇内的农业企业有生宝种养公司和大地之元农业开发公司等（均为广东省注册的公司）。生宝的农业生态园在大塘尾，占地200多公顷，种植木瓜、火龙果、荔枝、龙眼等，并设有猪场和鱼塘。[1][6] 据政府网站，2015年全镇生产总值4.8亿元，其中农业2.2亿元、工业2.0亿元、第三产业0.6亿元。[1]

革命历史[edit]

新田镇有深厚的红色传统。1922年镇内成立农会；1925年周恩来率军东征，派吴振民在此训练海陆丰农民自卫队。[2] 1927年，杨其珊等人先后在新田发动三次武装起义，其中第三次起义（11月7日）建立了海丰、陆丰工农兵苏维埃政府，当地资料称其为中国第一个县级苏维埃政府。[2]

1927年10月，南昌起义南下部队董朗部到达激石溪，改编为中国工农革命军第二师，后称红二师。[2] 苏维埃政权在1928年3月转入西北山区后，中共东江特委、海陆紫县委等机关先后驻在激石溪。[2] 1930年12月，海陆紫三县代表会议在激石溪召开，成立海陆紫苏维埃政府；1933年9月，杨其珊在激石溪遇害。[2] 1931至1934年间，国民党军在湖坑、鹿湖一带设炮台和集中营，据同一页面所载，当地群众牺牲2000多人。[2]

解放战争时期，新田是陆丰东北大队的主要活动地区。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

  • 激石溪革命根据地先烈纪念园：在激石溪村上垸自然村，规划占地20万平方米，首期13.3万平方米，设有烈士纪念碑、杨其珊雕像、烈士纪念馆和景英亭等。一期工程于2010年完工，次年（2011年）成为汕尾市的爱国主义教育基地；此后省、市、县有关部门又在园内设立了干部党性教育、党史教育、党员教育和廉政教育等共6个基地。[1][8]
  • 红军桥：革命时期为往激石溪运送物资，在湖坑村修起的两座石桥，一座在湖坑村委楼对面，一座在横石自然村，后经修缮保存。[10]
  • 红二师纪念亭：位于激石溪村的三江口，离新田圩约12公里，修在红二师驻地旧址，由中共陆河县委和县人民政府修建。[9] 博雅地名网记其始建于1997年12月。[5]
  • 参将署遗址：在参城村。据村情介绍，明隆庆六年（1572年）官府开始在此驻兵，万历二年移惠州参将驻守，建营房72间，四周筑城墙并设四门，明末撤废，村名「参城」即由此来。[3]
  • 清霞寺：在新村村陶仔一带的清霞山下，相传清道光初年村民建观音庙，2003年捐资重建，2009年登记为佛教固定处所。[11]
  • 新田公园：2005年创建于丰山村炮台凸，一期占地约150亩，有观光塔、文化长廊和体育场地。[12]
  • 元升樱花生态园：位于联新、联安两村的交界地带，经营者为陆河元升农业科技公司，原占地约1200亩，后扩至2000多亩，种有樱花、茶花等花卉。[13]

著名人物[edit]

杨其珊（1871年—1933年），原籍陆丰县新田，中共五大代表、第五届中央委员，曾任海丰总农会副会长，被视为彭湃的亲密战友；1933年在激石溪遇害。[3][7] 另据博雅地名网，抗日英烈谢非（1932年—1999年）也与新田镇相关。[5]
