新田村是梅州市梅江区西阳镇所辖的一个行政村。相传村民的祖先在明代因战乱南迁，来到这片山区，开垦新的田园，建起新的村庄，因而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年，新田大队成立，归梅县西阳公社管理；1960年西阳公社划出白宫另置公社，该大队仍留在西阳公社。1983年改称新田乡，隶梅县市西阳区；1986年设村民委员会，1989年易名新田管理区，归梅县市西阳镇；1998年再改称新田村委会。2003年白宫镇并入西阳镇，该村随之划归西阳镇；2012年9月23日西阳镇自梅县改归梅江区管辖，该村亦属梅江区。[1]
