新村是吴川市覃巴镇的一个村委会，只辖一条自然村，在吴川市东面，与茂名市茂港区小良镇秦村村委会交界。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新村在1950年建行政村；其后依次是新村小乡（1957年）、新村大队（1958年），1961年归上坡小公社，1964年又恢复新村大队的名称；村委会于1987年设立，1989年起一度叫管区办事处，2000年恢复村委会之名，沿用至今。[1]

地理与经济[edit]

铜肖线公路从村东通过，袂花江流经村西的耕地，村边有湖塘。[1]全村有600多户、3500多人；耕地中水田700多亩，旱田900多亩，淡水鱼塘400亩。旱田种花生、番薯，水田种水稻，鱼塘用来养鱼和孵化鱼苗。[1]村内有小学一所，自来水直供各户。[1]

荣誉[edit]

新村在2019年9月被列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」，2023年11月进入「首批典型县镇村」行列（广东“百千万工程”），2024年4月又进入「第一批乡村振兴示范村」创建名单（广东省）。[1]
