吉兆村是吴川市覃巴镇濒临南海的村委会，在吴川市区东南约6公里处，辖洪村、梅楼、吉兆3条自然村，是革命老区村。^[1]吉兆湾旅游度假区位于其海岸一带。^[1]

历史沿革[edit]

吉兆在1950年是行政村，此后经历小乡（1957年）、大队（1958年）、小公社（1961年），1964年回到大队建制；1978年曾叫渔业大队，1981年改回，1983年称乡委会，1987年变为村委会，1989年定名吉兆村民委员会，沿用至今。^[2]

全村1250户、5700多人，耕地1230亩，种水稻、花生，速生林2150亩，另有600亩荔枝、龙眼、香蕉等经济作物。^[1]村民半农半渔，机动渔船150多艘，出产海蜇、鱼、虾、蟹，多家海蜇加工场的产品出口港澳和东南亚。^[1]3条自然村均被评为吴川市文明村。^[1]

境内海岸为基岩海岸，岸线曲折，已开发为省级旅游区。^[1]据百度百科，吉兆湾旅游度假区是广东省人民政府于1994年批准设立的省级度假区，分吉兆、覃流、六鳌三个小区，规划面积13.7平方公里，海岸线11.2公里，现为国家3A级旅游景区。^[3]
