新村在黄槐镇，据博雅地名网记载，是清朝时才有人迁来定居的地方。[1]
地名由来与沿革[edit]
页面称此地原本无人居住，清朝时陆续有人迁来盖房，因而叫“荒村”，后写作新村。[1]
1950年，新村隶黄陂区北六乡的宝龙大队；1959年另立新村大队，1978年黄陂、黄槐分设公社，它归了黄槐公社。1984至1986年同黄溪大队合为新村乡，1987年撤乡设管理区，1999年再设村委会。[1]
新村见于2019年9月公布的广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建名单（2018年度）。[1]
