莲塘村是佛山市禅城区张槎街道所辖的行政村，在佛山市西郊，是张槎西部较偏远的一个村，东邻海口村，南临东平河，西接村头村，北靠大富村和村尾村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年起先后属超英、张槎两个人民公社。莲塘在人民公社时期设为大队（1958年）；1983年底改建乡，1987年起归张槎镇管辖，改称村民委员会，1989年一度叫管理区，1999年恢复村委会之名；2002年12月随张槎镇划入禅城区，2003年9月改由张槎街道管辖。[1][3]

地理环境[edit]

全村面积0.7平方千米，村民小组有8个，依次叫莲一至莲八。[1][2]

人口民族[edit]

博雅地名网的村情记载，外来居住人口4000多人，常住人口3100多人（均未注明年份）。[2]

经济[edit]

村里逐步由农业转向工业，集体经济主要靠物业出租和个体私营经济，有外商投资企业、私营工厂和店铺一百多家，行业以陶瓷、铸造、包装、塑料和家具为主。[2] 2021年、2022年莲塘村连续进入「淘宝村」名单；2023年11月入选广东「百千万工程」首批典型县镇村，2024年4月入选「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村创建名单」。[1]

文化[edit]

莲塘武术龙狮团成立于1998年，曾在国内外比赛中取得名次。[2] 2019年9月，莲塘村进入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
