新塘村是禾云镇下辖的行政村，地处山区，位于镇东北部，距镇政府约15公里，辖25个自然村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村下辖新田、蒙塘、共和三个片区，村名取新田与蒙塘两片名字中各一字，即「新」和「塘」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新塘的建制沿革是：1953年先是乡，1958年组成大队；1983年重新设乡，1986年转为村委会，1989年成为管理区，1999年再恢复村委会。[1]

经济与荣誉[edit]

第二批「广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」名单于2021年9月公布，本村以黄金李上榜。[1]

2022年1月，广东省乡村振兴局确定本村为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位；同年8月，本村被确定为「2022年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]
