杨充的前身叫杨梅：1958年公社化时它属中垌区的杨梅公社，1964年划入中垌成为杨梅大队，到1983年才设杨充乡，1987年称村民委员会，1989年称管理区办事处，1999年改称村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
据该站，村里主要经济作物为水稻、花生、蔬菜、甘蔗，特色收入来自养蛇业；上一年（未注明年份）农村经济总收入3260万元。[1]
村内引进木业切片厂2家、家具厂1家；该站还称它是投资15亿元的海螺水泥项目专家生活区所在的辖区，并计划继续扩大养蛇业。[1]
