水口镇是广东省茂名市信宜市南部的一个镇，下辖1个社区和20个行政村[1][2]。博雅地名网记其辖区面积约123.5平方千米，距信宜市区约9公里，207国道从镇境穿过[2]；该网站转引第七次全国人口普查结果，全镇人口约5.41万人，在信宜市各街道、乡镇中居第6位[2]。1986年冬设镇，镇名取自境内的水口村[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

镇名的由来：水口村南面是鉴江上游的东江河与支流龙山河的汇合处，当地称为「合水口」，后简称「水口」，镇因村得名[2]。

这一带在清康熙十三年（1674年）隶信宜县坊郭都，乾隆二十一年（1755年）划为良垌堡。民国时期，1932年属信宜县一区，1940年大部分地方分属良垌中乡、六承上乡和龙水乡。1952年12月划入镇隆区，1957年撤区并乡，设良垌中乡与双狮乡，次年冬并入镇隆人民公社，到1963年合为水口人民公社。1983年10月公社改区，1986年冬区改设镇[2]。

水口镇在信宜市南部，207国道穿境而过[2]。各村的村情资料给出的气候数据相同：年平均气温22.5摄氏度，年降雨量约1815毫米，属亚热带季风气候；村情资料未注明年份[3]。

经济[edit]

博雅地名网转述的镇概况（未注明年份）称，全镇山地综合开发见效好，香蕉、荔枝、龙眼、烟叶、北运蔬菜是主要产品，镇内设有信宜规模最大的香蕉生产基地和批发市场；矿产有云母、花岗岩等十余种；工业门类包括造纸、陶瓷、建材、建筑、家具、皮手套和竹器加工；全镇建成二级公路26公里，村村通公路[2]。

从各村的村情资料看，香蕉是多数村的特色收入；横茶村以花盆生产著称，大垌村的砂糖桔和旺埇村的蜜柚分别列入广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单[3]。

文化[edit]

水口镇在2022年1月获命名为「2021年度广东省卫生城镇」[2]。博雅地名网在镇页面上还列出一批「相关名人」，但未写明他们与本镇的关系，这里不采用[2]。
