村名的由来：村内有石狗岭、黑石岭两座山岭，合成一个整体，因此叫双山[1]。
建置沿革：解放初期属十一村农会，其后1958年属镇隆公社双山大队，随后1961年属双山公社，再后辖双山大队和简坡都龙大队，接着1983年起改设乡一级政权，又其后几经改称，其后1999年起定名双山村民委员会[1]。
荣誉：2021年12月获「2021年广东省卫生村」称号；国家林业和草原局2019年12月发布的第二批国家森林乡村名单中有双山村[1]。

村里的主要经济作物是香蕉、蔬菜和烟叶[1]。据村情资料，上一年全村经济总收入约1271万元，以香蕉为主，兼种烟叶和蔬菜[1]。
