村名的由来：村子建在山岭上，比周围地势高，因而叫高岭[1]。
建置沿革：1958年属燕山大队，其后1961年分出高岭、樟岸、荷村三个大队，随后1967年三队合并为高岭大队，再后1983年起改设乡一级政权，接着其后几经改称，又1999年起定名高岭村民委员会[1]。

村里的主要经济作物是水稻、龙眼和香蕉[1]。据村情资料，上一年全村经济总收入约1800万元，村民租田种香蕉、挖鱼塘，收入增加[1]。
