村名的由来：传说此地从前出现过两只狮子，方圆百里都知道，因而得名[1]。
建置沿革：1962年分为双狮、双贺、平楼三个大队，其后1964年合并为双狮大队，随后1999年起称双狮村民委员会[1]。
荣誉：2023年5月获「2022年广东省卫生村」称号；2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单[1]。

村里的主要经济作物是龙眼、荔枝和水稻[1]。据村情资料，上一年全村经济总收入约1800多万元，村里设有墟日，并完善墟街建设[1]。
