村寨的地形像「径子」（一种捕鱼工具），因而称径下。^[1]1953年成立明星社，1958至1983年属宋声大队，改设管理区（1985年），改称径下村委会（1999年）；宋声镇撤销（2004年11月），归水口镇管辖。^[1]
