村址周围树木繁茂，故以「森丰」为名。^[1]1956年称兴丰乡，后设兴丰大队（1958年），后改称森丰乡政府（1983年），称管理区（1986年），改称森丰村委会（1999年）；宋声镇撤销（2004年11月），归水口镇管辖。^[1]
