名称与沿革[edit]

传说村南的塔岗下有两个龙洞，一洞出盐，一洞出米，所以叫盐米。^[1]1953年归小丰乡政府；与水西乡的洋新各取一字（1964年），设盐新大队；1979年分离，成立盐米村委会，同洋新合为盐新乡（1984年），再分开改称管理区（1987年），定名盐米村委会（1999年）。^[1]

盐米村在2026年1月被评为广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。^[1]
