东坑村隶属广东省梅州市梅县区南口镇。当地相传，约600年前陈氏在此开基，周氏选址建祠，周氏发展迅速，把「陈」字去掉左耳旁，取「东」字，寓意压过陈氏；加上这里多山坑地，称东坑。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年为龙岗大队的一部分；1986年成立东坑管理区，1999年成为村委会。[1]

2019年9月，该村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
