莲塘村是东城街道下辖的行政村，属城乡结合区，村委会驻地位于街道东南面，下辖21条自然村。[1]

2026年1月，村获评「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」。2019年9月，村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]

地名由来[edit]

1952年，草塘、洲岐塘、牛角塘三个自然村连成一个大村，取名联塘。「联」与「莲」同音，村委会驻于此地，遂称莲塘。[1]

沿革[edit]

1958年时为莲花大队，1984年划为莲塘乡，1987年转为村委会，1989年底为管理区，1999年又为村委会。2003年，蟠龙、凯旋、莲塘三村合并为莲塘村委会，沿用至今。[1]

经济[edit]

村内设4个党支部，分别为莲塘、凯旋、蟠龙、沙寮党支部，另有1个经济联社和21个村民理事会。[1]

村集体利用闲置空地建设停车场，规划小车车位200多个，预计年收入50万至80万元。村还在省职教城周边的广东金融学院、南华工商学院附近设立119个夜市摊位，统一管理后年收入达96万元。[2]

著名人物[edit]

黄峰（1914年8月至1991年1月）是附城镇莲塘沙寮村人，1940年至1955年间在清城上廓的益元堂坐诊行医。[1]
