新村是上坪镇的行政村，与上坪社区相邻。村名取自旧时人口稀少、后来人口增多、逐步建村的情况。2004年，新桥村委会经龙川县人民政府批准并入新村村委会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年解放后，这里归龙田村政府管辖；1953年起划入龙田乡。1958年才设新村大队，1983年时仍归龙田乡管。1986年起为村委会，1989年一度改为管理区，1999年设立村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予村庄“2022年广东省卫生村”称号。[1]
