梅坑村是上坪镇的行政村。村名的来历是村中原有梅花树。2004年，茶活村委会经龙川县人民政府批准并入梅坑村委会，村内的茶活炮楼是一处县级文物。^[1]^[2]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前，这一带属上坪石下。解放后划归上坪区的龙田乡，1958年隶属上坪公社龙田大队。1987年起为村委会，1989年一度称梅坑管理区，1999年重设村委会。^[1]

茶活炮楼建于清咸丰六年（1856年），为龙川县文物保护单位，位于原茶活村钟氏祖屋旁。1932年8月，陈济棠部队会同周边七县武装围攻茶活苏区，守楼的区乡干部和赤卫队员坚守至全部牺牲。炮楼于1984年倒塌，现仅余屋基。^[2]

2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予村庄“2022年广东省卫生村”称号。^[1]
