地名由来[edit]
村在派潭河的转弯处，夜里常有船只在此停歇，明代已有「水上街市」之称，因地形而叫湾吓。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立初期为派东乡十四村，1958年并入鹅兜大队，1963年分出，成立湾吓大队；1983年11月恢复为乡，1987年1月改称湾吓村委会。[1]

村情介绍称，全村约1.5平方千米，总人口1577人，由5个自然村组成，耕地1483亩。[1]
