村情所记的来历与上围村相同：先人自惠东大岭顺江迁来，在小山岗间落脚，旧称长岗岭，后因位置在下首而称下围。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

这里与上围村原同属长湖：1966年是博罗县汝湖公社长湖大队，1988年起为汝湖镇长湖管理区，1995年5月长湖一分为二，下围另立管理区，1998年撤区改村，定名下围村委会。[1]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
