下围村是高要区莲塘镇西边的行政村，辖下围村、新美村2个自然村，7个村民小组，人口共1500多人，约400户（据博雅地名网）。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年成立下围大队，隶新桥公社；次年改隶莲塘公社；1983年大队改为乡，1987年乡改为村委会，1989年又改为管理区，1998年复称村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
村离莲塘圩镇2.5千米、新桥圩镇3千米，新兴江与新蛟公路穿过。农作物有美叶桉、水稻、蔬菜，并养殖四大家鱼。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2026年1月，获评「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」；2022年1月，被广东省乡村振兴局确定为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位。[1]
