莲塘村是浦城县莲塘镇下辖的行政村，地处城乡结合部。村名与旧时的水塘有关：清咸丰年间，村人挖掘九口井、十三口塘以防火，塘渠彼此相连，村民沿塘建房，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期村庄隶属体仁镇。新中国成立后的十来年里，先后归第二区、梦笔直属乡与山桥公社管辖；1964年划入莲塘公社，设莲塘大队。1984年改为莲塘村村民委员会，由莲塘乡领导；1998年6月随乡改镇，转归莲塘镇。[1]
