莲塘村是蚶江镇下辖的行政村，位于镇政府驻地东南，黄牛山之东、香山之西，是蚶江镇的第一大行政村。村名来自村旁的莲山和山下的池塘。[1][2]

地名与历史沿革[edit]

村旁有一座山名莲山，又名象山，山下有一池塘，池中荷叶千盘、莲花竞放，村名因此而得。[1]

宋代属安仁乡永宁里，元、明、清属二十一都。民国时期分属第四区、石狮区，后归蚶江乡。新中国成立后，1949年归永宁区，1952年改属双湖区，1956年划入莲塘区莲塘乡。[1]

1958年设莲塘大队，1984年改称莲塘村委会。[1]

人口与村情[edit]

据2025年8月公布的村情信息，全村外来人口1263人，户籍人口7181人；住户1927户，村民小组36个，村民代表87人，支部党员165名。辖区面积6平方千米。[2]

境内规模企业有20多家，涵盖纺织服装、鞋类、五金、文具等多个行业。[2]

村民以蔡姓为最多，其次为吴、林等姓。[1]

村内有纪念旅菲抗日烈士蔡派恭的纪念亭，又有蔡昌宜烈士墓、明清时修建的排涝水渠逆道水渠，宋代佛教遗址漏米岩今已改建为丰山寺。[3]
