据博雅地名网所载：1962年起叫作东山大队；此后1982年起叫作东山乡政府；随后1987年起叫作东山村民委员会；再后来1990年起叫作东山管理区；接着1999年起叫作东山村民委员会；2004年10月东联镇建制撤销后，东山村民委员会划入汤坑镇。[3]
